About the Requirements Gathering template
Getting a team to agree on what to build next is a common challenge. Ideas come from everywhere, but without a clear system, it's easy to get stuck in debates or work on the wrong things. The Requirements Gathering template provides a simple, collaborative space to turn a jumble of ideas into a clear, prioritized plan. It’s designed to help your team align on what's essential before you write a single line of a product requirements document (PRD).
How to use the Requirements Gathering template
Brainstorm your requirements. Start by getting every idea, feature request, and user need onto the board as a sticky note. In this step, quantity is more important than quality.
Prioritize using the MoSCoW method. Move each sticky note into one of the four quadrants: Must-haves (critical for launch), Should-haves (important but not vital), Could-haves (desirable but can be postponed), and Nice-to-haves (extras).
Synthesize into a PRD. With your requirements clearly categorized, you now have the essential input needed. Use this prioritized list to generate a formal Product Requirements Document (PRD) that outlines the project's purpose, features, and success criteria.
Why use the Requirements Gathering template?
Eliminate ambiguity and align your team. The visual framework ensures everyone on the team understands not just what you're building, but why certain features are prioritized over others.
Make faster, more confident decisions. By using a structured method for prioritization, you can move past endless debates and make objective choices about where to focus your team's effort.
Create a direct path to your PRD. This template doesn't just leave you with a list of ideas; it provides the clear, prioritized structure needed to write an effective Product Requirements Document much faster.
