How would you describe product/market fit?
Product/market fit measures how well a product matches the market and the user’s need for that product. This combined metric looks at how customers use a product and how this fits with overall market demand.
A product/market fit analysis forces you to put the customer at the heart of your product design and innovation. You look at everything from their perspective, including your product features, usability, pricing, and more. As a result, you’ll create something that’s more likely to achieve product/market fit.
When to use the product/market fit survey
You can use the product/market fit canvas at various stages of your company’s growth. Let’s take a look at some examples.
To identify your target audience. If you want to know who you should target with your new or existing product, a product/market fit survey is a good idea. Using this framework, you’ll be able to identify where your product fits in the market and the types of people who will want to buy it.
To define your minimum viable product (MVP). Using the product/market fit framework, you can identify your minimum viable product. This is a version of a product with just enough features to be usable by early customers. It’s a chance for you to get feedback for future product development, which helps product designers refine product features and saves them time in the long run.
To create a better product or service. The goal of any product/market analysis is to create a better product or service for your customers. This model helps guide this process, allowing you to identify the best features and pricing within the competitive landscape.
How to use the Product/Market Fit Survey Template
