About the Pitch Deck Template
A Pitch Deck Template helps you present ideas to investors and stakeholders and get your business up and running. It's a quick and practical way to guarantee that second meeting, where you start conversations about funding, bringing you one step closer to success. This template can also be used to bring other ideas to life, especially when you need to pitch a project or partnership, inside or outside your own organization.
What's a pitch deck?
A pitch deck is a concise and informative presentation about your business idea, project, or plan. It's used to showcase your high-level concept to stakeholders and financial investors, putting key information into context and highlighting the problem you are trying to solve.
The design and tone of voice used may vary according to your industry, but the format is generally the same for every pitch deck presentation.
How do you build the perfect pitch deck?
The look and feel of your pitch deck may vary based on brand guidelines and tone of voice, but the rule of thumb is:
Keep it short and simple
Use no more than ten slides. Make your pitch presentation short and sweet — if you need more slides, we advise you to review your deck. It can be that your idea is not clear enough or that you are focusing on the wrong selling points. Remember, the people you're presenting to should easily understand the idea, its benefit, and what's in it for them. Keep it high-level and focus on the absolutely essential.
Present in less than twenty minutes
Following the previous point, when you have a concise pitch presentation, you won't need more than twenty minutes to present it, giving you two minutes per slide. Value your audience's time by giving them a dynamic and engaging pitch.
Get creative, but keep it clear
The medium is the message. When you put your ideas together, remember to add only the essential information on your pitch deck. After that, it's time to think about your deck's style. Keep in mind people will need to read your slides or understand their context, so it's important to stand out with an original design layout. But, don't go too far when creating your deck visuals — the audience should never be distracted by too many visuals or dense blocks of text. Get creative but also keep it practical.
Why have a pitch deck?
Pitch deck presentations are a straightforward and practical way to sell ideas and get people excited about your project; that's why they've become so popular. It informs people about your vision, and it clearly and visually shows your plans to stakeholders or investors, raising your chances of closing a deal.
Many professionals and entrepreneurs use pitch presentations to:
Spark interest, but not necessarily cover every aspect of their idea/business.
Start the conversation and get a second meeting, where you can present your project with more details.
Stand out, and gain a competitive advantage. If your project is impactful, the chances are that you’ll convince people to jump on board.
How to make a pitch deck with Miro's template
You can use Miro’s infinite canvas as a scratchpad to gather ideas and handy resources to set up your pitch deck. When you’re ready to craft your presentation, select this Pitch Deck Template to begin customizing it to your needs.
Each slide of this template is a frame. You can easily edit the content in the slides, add or remove new slides, or drag to change the order they are presented in.
Once you’re ready to present your slides, simply jump into Presentation mode. Your presentation will automatically become full screen and you can use the arrow buttons or keys to move between slides. Only the slides in the frames you selected will be visible, and comments or collaborators’ cursors will be hidden to reduce distraction.
What should a pitch deck contain?
The specifics of your pitch deck will depend on your industry, idea, and audience, but they should generally contain the information found on the ten frames of Miro’s Pitch Deck Template:
Title: Make it clear and catchy. It's probably the first time people hear about you or your project, so make sure your title is enticing.
Problem/opportunity: Allow people to see what problem you are trying to solve. Mention how you imagine the future moving forward and briefly describe this opportunity in a way your audience can also understand the depth of the issue.
Value proposition: What value is your idea bringing? What are its unique selling points? Lay it out here.
Underlying magic: Outline your plan, and give a visual, clear path on how you and your team will manage to win the new market.
Business plan: Keep it high-level. Add anything related to your financial goals and ROI (return on investment).
Go to market plan: What are your marketing plans? How are you going to reach your audience, customers, or end-user? Here is a good place to outline that.
Competitive analysis: Briefly describe your competitors and your idea is differentiated from theirs.
Management team: Give a brief overview of you and your team (if you have one) and their superpowers.
Financial projections & key metrics: Add any other relevant metrics for your pitch. Remember, less is more, so don't overwhelm them with much information.
Current Status, Accomplishments, Timeline, Use of Funds: Outline your next steps, how you will use their help, their funding, and what you need.
How do you write a pitch deck?
There are many ways to write a pitch deck. First, evaluate your audience style and adjust your tone of voice accordingly. The pitch deck should be concise and informative, but that doesn't mean there is no space for creativity; on the opposite, write an opening frame or slide that grabs people's attention. To build your pitch deck, use Miro's Pitch Deck Template selecting which frames you want to keep in your presentation and what content you want to add to each frame. Don't also forget to present your unique selling points, what makes your idea or project stand out, and how others will benefit from it.
What makes a great pitch?
A great pitch leaves people impressed, wondering about your project, and curious to know more. Make sure you grab your audience's attention by being creative but not too overwhelming, so they keep listening to your pitch and leave your presentation wanting to know more. Add at the final frame your contact and write a clear call to action for them to learn more. Good luck!
