Pair programming isn’t just two people working at a single computer. It works best when both partners are intentional about how they collaborate. The Pair Programming Canvas gives you a simple structure to prepare, run, and reflect on your sessions.

It guides you through six simple steps:

1. Check-in: Share how you’re doing and what matters today

2. Clarify the task: Agree on the goal and clear up open questions

3. Coordinate approach: Decide on roles, switching rhythm, and breaks

4. Plan sub-steps: Set small goals to keep progress visible

5. Pairing phase: Work with focus, switch roles, think out loud, and listen actively

6. Check-out: Reflect on what went well, what was tricky, and what you want to try next time
