A Team Ways of Working Story

A FACILITATOR'S GUIDE

This workshop is designed for building understanding in the remote world.

The aim of this workshop is to forge a common understanding of the shape of everyone's day; their challenges and constraints, and personal preferences.

It's also a great way to start thinking about what they need to refuel and energize themselves and a new opportunity for individuals to re-think and redesign their own 'ideal' day.

INSTRUCTIONS

ONE. Lockdown all the individual boards

TWO. < optional > Edit the 'example' board if you want to make it your own.

THREE. Explain why your team is here today (i.e., to understand individual constraints and preferences before forging inclusive team agreements).

FOUR. Explain the ask: create their own storyboard of what their ideal workday looks like.

FIVE. Walk the 'example' board provided or run through your own 'example' board..

SIX. Set the timer to 10 minutes and let them fill this out and use this as 'silent meeting time'.

Here they can fill the board out with plenty of time for contemplation.

SEVEN. Take turns letting everyone talk through their board, leave it casual and open for questions.

If needed, guide the team to discuss and identify their differences and similarities.

The 'So What!?' Conversation.

Some might already be there, coming up with solutions and suggestions. Or it might come up in the next workshop in this series or conttribute to an improvement in your existing ways of working. However, if you're just running this session as a stand-alone, go to 'part two' on this board...

EIGHT. This means spending the last 10-15 minutes asking everyone:

1. What their 'ONE key takeaway was from this session' is; and

2. What one thing they think they (either the team or the individual) could do better to make their real day a little bit closer to their 'IDEAL' day.
