SWOT Analysis
This board is intended to help facilitate reflective discussion, focusing on 4 core areas: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. The SWOT Analysis board offers a streamlined platform for teams to analyse any aspect of a project for further reflection and iteration. The four areas of the analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) focus on both internal and external factors that will help or hinder a project.
When?
We recommend using this board at the beginning of a project planning phase or when considering iterating upon a previously completed project. This will help to facilitate discussions and provide a comprehensive overview of the multiple factors potentially affecting plans.
How?
Ensure all participants have access to the board and the project, or aspect, for discussion has been communicated to all included. Invite participants to add sticky notes to each aspect, documenting their thoughts and identifying areas for further discussion. You can use the comments to add additional ideas to existing sticky notes, and the voting tool to prioritise items as a team.
Why?
Whilst the SWOT Analysis framework is simple, it provides a clear structure and can help to separate unnecessary information from the essential factors impacting a project plan.
Beyond the analyses these considerations should be noted and referred back to throughout a development lifecycle to ensure you are emphasising strengths, supporting weaknesses, maximising opportunities, and mitigating threats. “
