Stand Up Template Preparation

  1. (Optional) put the date of the StandUp at the top of the Template, for easy later reference

  2. (Optional) Add the Team Name

  3. In the Ticket Legend section, add a profile photo for every team member, crop it to a circle, and then put a coloured border around it. The end result should look similar to those provided. The intent is to use the colours for easy reference as they match the colour of the shapes for that person.

The Board

The Stand Up Template is broken into four basic sections, to make highlighting of relevant information:

  • Let's Talk About The Work - this section is for highlighting risks, dependencies, changes in priorities or any major milestones that the team need to know about

  • Let's Talk About The Team - this section is to celebrate anything that the team want to mention, and also to highlight any constraints currently on the team.

  • Let's Talk About Our Ways of Working - this section is to highlight any tools or processes that the team use which need attention by the team

  • Let's Talk About Anything Else - this section is for any other things that the team want to highlight when they are together.

  • Open Actions - This final section is to capture actions to carry forward to the next Stand Up, to bring forward any actions from the last Stand Up, and actions for any other team/person not included in the team.

The Stand Up

  1. Before, or at the beginning of Stand Up, ask every team member to drag one of their coloured shapes and place it in the relevant section for something they would like to discuss during Stand Up. The shape can be stretched, as required.

  2. If more than 3 are required for one person, simply duplicate or copy/paste one of their existing shapes.

  3. It's not mandatory that everyone adds something to the board. It's also not mandatory that everyone uses all three of their items.

  4. The Facilitator can then go section by section, or person by person, or any other fashion, to ensure the team speak about the most-important things during Stand Up

Agile Coach
G'day, I'm Paul from the country where it's always tomorrow. You'd know it as Australia. I'm an Agile Coach, helping teams think differently to solve problems. I'm also a big believer in making work fun - one great way of doing that is by mixing up the normal drudgery of meetings. The templates I create here can be used to bring alignment and collaboration, but in fun ways using games, themes, movies, music. If you think it, you can do it.
