Stakeholder Interviews
Who is this template for?
CTOs, Software Architects, Staff Engineers, Engineering Managers, or anyone interested in defining or improving the technical strategy in an organization.
What's its goal?
Gain an overall understanding of the essential needs and primary expectations surrounding technology from various departments and perspectives within your company, including sales, product, management, strategy, operations, and human resources.
Define the expected responsibilities and communication channels for the stakeholders of the technical strategy.
Analyze all available materials and cross-departmental goals to understand the whole picture.
Define short- and long-term goals.
Share the overall view so everyone understands each other’s view and agrees on a common direction.
When should you use it?
You start working in a technical leadership position with responsibility or influence in defining the technical strategy within the organization, such as CTO, Architect, Engineering Manager, Staff Engineer, or similar roles.
You don’t have a technical strategy, or it isn’t aligned with business objectives and the organization's needs.
Non-technical staff constantly challenge the technical decisions due to the lack of a whole picture that everyone can understand and acknowledge.
Business and Technology work as silos, with different priorities and constantly competing for time and resources. You want to connect them and ensure they behave as a single unit.
Prioritization processes often don’t work well, so the loudest person gets their tasks at the front of the queue, neglecting the concerns and interests of others. You want to give a voice to everyone.
