Rick & Morty Retro
If your team loves animated sitcom with a special sense of humor like Rick and Morty one, this template is made for you! To run properly the retrospective, these are the details to follow:
1. Icebreaker: Choose your Rick
In this icebreaker, participants will have the opportunity to express their feelings/mood by choosing one of the Ricks present on the board. To create this icebreaker I use one particular episode where we can discover different Ricks with specific personality. To make the exercise easy, I have written a description of the nine personalities on the left-hand side.
2. Interdimensional Cable Moments
In this column, participants are asked to review the highlights of their sprint, both positive and negative. Be careful not to go into too much detail, as this could overlap with the next column, keep it simple and factual.
3. Impact on the Multiverse
Here, we're going to reflect on the impact of the above-mentioned moments. Ideally, you should be able to link the post-it notes between the two columns. Of course, one moment can have several impacts, and therefore several linked post-it notes.
4. Lessons Learned
Finally, after talking about the past, we need to think about the present and the future. In this column, participants are asked to reflect on potential areas for improvement that they could implement in the next sprint.
5. Portal Action Items
Using the above-mentioned areas for improvement, ask the team to vote for the three most important and highest priority. Then enter them as action items in the space-time portals provided.
6. Quick review - How was the retro?
To conclude this retrospective, ask the participants to give you a quick feedback about the moment you have just spent by choosing a GIF that best corresponds to their experience.
Note: You can directly use the post-it notes created below the board. Small pistols can be used to let participants say whether they agree with an idea by moving a pistol on a post-it note. Don't hesitate to let them know at the start of the event.
