  1. Says: What does your persona openly express? This could be a direct quote or a phrase they often use. For example, they may say, “I need a more efficient way to handle team collaboration.”

  2. Does: How does your persona act or behave? Do they tend to make decisions quickly, or are they more methodical? Perhaps they regularly seek out new solutions for their challenges.

  3. Thinks & Feels: This quadrant dives into your persona’s deeper emotions and thoughts. What keeps them up at night? What drives their decision-making process? A key insight might be something like, “They feel overwhelmed by the constant need to manage multiple priorities.”

  4. Sees: What does your persona notice in their environment? This includes external influences like industry trends, social media, or interactions with colleagues. An example could be, “They see a growing need for more collaborative tools in their workplace.”

Bring Your Persona to Life

This exercise in empathy mapping is a fantastic starting point for developing a nuanced understanding of your ideal client. Each sticky note you add brings them one step closer to life. The key here is specificity—use vivid, concrete examples that make your persona feel real and human.
