Hunting Ground

Report

🔍 What is the template about?

This template is a tiger-themed team retrospective built around the DAKI format (Drop, Add, Keep, Improve), titled “Hunting Ground.” It includes a light-hearted, engaging icebreaker called “Stripe Swap”, where team members anonymously share fun personal facts in the third person for others to guess.

The overall theme invites teams to reflect like strategic tigers in the jungle - sharpening strengths, improving tactics, and letting go of what no longer serves them.

🎯 What does it help you achieve?

This template helps distributed Agile or Scrum teams:

  • Reflect effectively on their current ways of working

  • Identify and prioritize improvements

  • Celebrate what’s working well

  • Strengthen team bonding through creative storytelling and guessing games

The thematic approach adds energy, fun, and metaphor-driven thinking to routine retrospectives, keeping remote teams more engaged and participatory.

👥 Who would benefit from it the most?

  • Agile teams looking to run retrospectives remotely

  • Scrum Masters wanting to introduce variety to sprint reviews

  • Team leads aiming to build psychological safety and team cohesion

  • Remote or hybrid teams that benefit from visual storytelling and gamified elements

It’s ideal for teams who are already familiar with retrospective basics but want to keep things fresh and enjoyable.

🛠️ How to use it

  1. Start with the “Stripe Swap” Icebreaker (Optional but recommended)

    • Each team member writes a fun unknown fact in the third person.

    • Others guess who each “tiger” is - great for lightening the mood.

  2. Move to the “Hunting Ground” Retrospective

    • Use the four themed columns:

      • Shed the Fur (Drop)

      • Sharpen the Claws (Add)

      • Strong Stripes (Keep)

      • Hunt Smarter (Improve)

    • Team members post their thoughts anonymously or openly using sticky notes.

  3. Use dot voting (optional) to identify key themes.

  4. Track next steps in the Action Tracker section.

  5. Wrap up with a group discussion or closing reflection.
