Harry Potter Task Planner

Report

BEsmart team is on the line!

Planning for a week or a day helps to notice important blokes and codependencies.

Though when you focus on rational analysis sometimes an emotional side of things might slip out of attention. This simple exercise helps to see what kinds of tasks might trigger emotional resistance and demotivate the team. And then, find a nice way to soften the blow together in a funny manner.

How it works

1. Patronus

All inspiring and motivating tasks go there. It's important to have at least one, even a small Patronus during the planning period.

2. Boggarts

All frightening and joy-sucking tasks to this part of the board. Don't forget to fight the Boggart. Sometimes we have to do just boring tasks. That happens! Just make an effort to think about any addition that will help to make it a bit less frustrating. Try to turn your task into a game, break it into smaller parts, share it with teammates, etc.

3. Portraits

Portraits serve a not very noticeable but necessary role. We don't have strong emotions about them but do not mind their presence. Those are the common tasks you are planning to do. write all of them into this field

We have practiced this framework on our team and it always helps us to power through tasks nobody wants to do. Or to spot the unclear and confusing task in the first place.

Don't let Boggarts ruin your next sprint!
