Agile Retrospective: Final Fantasy VII Edition

Icebreaker:

Chocobo Chase Warm up the conversation by sharing how you would feel if you found yourself racing a Chocobo through the Gold Saucer. As yourself "What’s one thing we can learn from Chocobos to improve our teamwork?"

Prime Directive 

Set the mood by reading a Prime Directive with a strong focus on the world of Final Fantasy VII. Create an environment of trust and security within the session. (Tip: You can imitate a character’s voice, like Barret’s or Sephiroth’s, to make it more fun).

Gather Insights

Encourage the team to answer the following questions:

Cloud: How effectively did we handle leadership and decision-making during this sprint?

• Tifa: Where did we show the most perseverance and strength in executing our tasks?

• Red XIII (Nanaki): What did we learn during this sprint, and how can we apply this knowledge in the future?

• Yuffie: Where have we been able to adapt and what do we still need to adjust?

• Sephiroth: What decisions would we make differently in the future to avoid past mistakes? Did we learn from our missteps and find ways to improve?

• Barret: What obstacles or challenges did we face recently, and how did we overcome them?

• Aerith: Give appreciation for the times we support each other and fostered a positive team environment.

Dot Vote 

Encourage the team to downselect to the item that most needs an action or experiment against. Use the dot voting feature in Miro or shapes/emojis related to the theme of the retro, such as Materia icons or Chocobo footprints.

Actions/Experiments 

Identify 3-5 actions or experiments to try in the next iteration to address the most voted topics. Ensure these actions align with the themes and lessons from Final Fantasy VII.

Rate the Retro 

It is time to rate the Return of Time Invested in the Retrospective. Put a Final Fantasy VII-themed sticky, (such as a Buster Sword or a Chocobo) draw with the pen, or put a sticky-note on the face that reflects your rate the most.

You can also give ideas for next Retrospective templates. Consider themes from other parts of the Final Fantasy series or other games.
