Change of Perspectives - Individual Edition

Report

The Change of Perspectives Canvas is a powerful one-page professional reflection exercise. It can serve e.g. as a preparation for a challenging situation, a context where conflicts may arise or "just" as a lightweight structure for personal professional growth.

Possible goals:

  • getting one or more alternative perspectives to challenging situations or recurring problems

  • design actionable steps towards the goals and values that matter to you

  • intentionally uncover (and ditch) possible self-sabotaging actions

  • practise self-compassion and a stance of healthy human curiosity

Who benefits the most?

  • Tech Leaders who often have huge technical skills and need to find their way to professional human & leadership skills themselves

  • open-minded folks who want to tackle a wicked problem with new approaches

  • all people with leadership responsibilities (no matter if they are formal or informal)

How to use it?

  1. Read the How-to frame that describes all the details and guiding questions.

  2. Have a look at the example *Change of Perspective* frame

  3. Decide on your first problem, challenge or context you want to gain new/additional perspectives on.

  4. Work through the canvas yourself. One half is decidated to your inner world (i.e. goals and values as well as emotions, thoughts and potentialls limiting beliefs). The other half is focussing on the "outer world" (as in: actions you can do, things other people can notice) to both check where you are currently at and most importantly to decide where to move some steps forwards towards to what truly matters to you.

Use a respectful inspect & adapt approach for yourself to celebrate your progress and gently adjust your moves along the way.
