My Autism Manual
This template was created to help explain what autism looks like in a specific individual.
Autism is unique in each person and there are a lot of behaviors that can be misunderstood. As the parent of an autistic teen, I found it difficult to communicate my daughter's behaviors, goals, and struggles to others. I want this to be a tool for others aiming to understand or communicate - this is what autism looks like in my daughter.
The goal was to create a manual/guide that explains:
who my daughter is
how they work
what joy and other emotions look like to them (because the behaviors can look different)
what behaviors indicate serious trouble, and intervention is needed
that each autism diagnosis represents itself differently - this is my daughter's autism
All of the information on the board came from my daughter. It was a fully cooperative experience. I worked with her to visualize her behaviors and how to best communicate it. She encouraged me to share this with the greater community.
